I'm picking up a 40D tomorrow and the store is suggesting an accessory kit that includes a grip. I'm just into photography for a hobby and I'm wondering if a grip is a good idea. Thanks for your help.

If you use portrait mode alot or need the exta battery capacity it will be indispensible. Are they offering the Canon grip or a 3rd party. That can make a difference as well. I personally only use the Canon grips. Paul
