I downloaded version 5.8 the other day which worked fine when viewing "Active AF points", then I got a new 40D yesterday and when viewing pics the "view active AF points" box is greyed out? Not sure why this is? Anybody else come across this situation? TIA!

I use the Zoombrowser that came with my 40D and the focus points show up just fine. Its version 5.8 according to the splash screen. What file format are you using?

Raw and jpeg both....I just checked my previous files from 30d and they work fine. That leads me to believe it must be a setting within the 40d menu?

I have a suspicion that Zoombrowser is camera specific so you'll need to use the copy that came with your new 40D

I would think ZB vers.5.8 downloaded from Canon or ZB 5.8 downloaded from disc in box would be virtually identicle, no?

I'm sure you're probably right. Interestingly Canon don't seem to show Zoombrowser as a software option for the 40D on their website unless I've missed it.

Glad you've got it sorted slyone but if it works with the software that came with the camera but not with the software from Canon's site it does beg the question if this software has been tweaked for the 40D. As a matter of interest, now you've loaded the software from 'the box' what version number is showing?

version 5.8.0.74 though now I'm not sure if I did in fact install 5.8 on my desktop? I did install it on the laptop. Maybe I had an older version without support for the 40d. Guess I'll never know. Glad it's all working good now!
