Should I upgrade because of my new landscape obsession?

Brilliant! Thanks Suzie! I really appreciate your advice on this! I think the 5D is a goer then!

Also, does anyone in the near future(1-2 weeks) see the 5D dropping any significant amount in price? I'm going to get it at Adorama very soon. The Aussie dollar is very strong against the US at the moment.

I got a 5d not too long ago and I am amazed at the IQ and smoothness out of it, no wonder landscape photographers use them so much. I didnt really mind getting it now and not waiting on the updated model as I have a 40d also and the update from the 30d didnt do a lot in my eyes.

When I read statements such as this it really makes me think I'm missing out something by not owning an EOS 5D and I love landscape photography. I want to see side by side results under the same conditions to prove this point but as to date I haven't.

Now the full frame capabilities for landscapes is a true advantage over the APS-C sensor but using the EF-S 10-22mm (16-35mm FF) I feel its giving wide angle enough.

I just wanna see some results validating the case -

Me too! Although I'm now pretty much set on a 5D!

Obviously it's your money and you need to decide if the differences going to the 5D are worth the cost, or if there are other uses for the money that may help more (filters, computer for PS, etc.). I'd point out that you will likely need another lens for the 5D, since your 17-40 becomes an ultrawide and you don't appear to have a longer "normal zoom" - so be prepared to spend another grand or so for 24-70 or 24-105. The 17-40 may not look as good on 5D - the FF sensor does highlight flaws in lenses unfortunately. A 10-22 Canon or 10-20 Sigma is vastly cheaper than a 5D plus lens.
