Firstly I apologise if this has been covered before, but I cant find it.

When shooting in AI Servo, is there a setting to change to One Shot for a shot and then back to AI Servo...?

I have found a cf that allows this on lenses with an AF STOP button, but not within the camera itself...

Help appreciated...

Mark

Not sure there is when you just press the AF drive button, and turn the top wheel on notch either way, there is only 2 settings one shot, and servo, unless you are talking about something else

Thanks for taking the time to comment...

What I seeking is a way to reprogram (eg the * button) so that when pressed in AI Servo mode, it changes to One Shot and when released, goes back to AI Servo...

Fairly sure this is not possible the nearest CF is C.Fn I-14 which enables you to register a desired setting for the * button, fairly sure AI-SERVO or One Shot cannot be registered.

Cheers

If you haven't any constructive comments, I would prefer none!!!

If its in the manual, then I have missed it.....

I have not tried it or can tell you how to do it. Hopefully CDS will see this thread because he can answer.

He setup his MKIII so he has a default setup for birding. Then when he shoot something else he change whatever needs changing and shoot that. But if he then spot a bird he wants to shoot he press one button and all settings revert to the default he setup. I guess this is something you could use.

Thanks Nick, I've seen that too....C.fn III-6 also lets you do it on lenses with a AF stop button...would like the facility on camera....

To be honest, you can't do this as a CF for this button. I've only done this just by switching and dialing it in on top.

This is not the first time you have responded in this way to a request for help. First, if someone doesn't understand or can't find or overlooks a vital part of the manual this is human nature. Second, it is indeed rude, so don't say you don't mean to be rude, you do.

There isn't a specific CF, but if you've set the camera to focus with the * you can get the same effect by letting go of the * when you've got the desired focus. Alternatively, you can register Custom settings with AI Servo and One Shot focus selected (though you'll need to make sure the rest of your settings in the two Custom modes agree).

BTW jdizzle. jr_senator is 100% correct. RTFM, however phrased, is a completely unacceptable answer. See also the rules, in particular 4.9

If you know an answer to a question either answer it or say nothing. Giving newbies blunt answers like "search the forum" is not allowed - please use the typing effort to giving the answer instead. Or just give the link to that post you wished the newbie should have searched for. Respect newbies - you were a newbie once.

Jon, thanks for responding.

Must admit I was a bit surprised with the answer from jdizzle, but I hope he has got the message now.
