Yeah, I know not too impressive. But I thought I'd just let everyone know its dropped down to $2179 at Adorama. Haven't checked BH yet though. I would assume they are the same.

Yep, same at BH. I know its still a bit cheaper with the codes, but hopefully it will continue to drop. Its a great price!

Lol, nice guess, but I'm a sophomore at Purdue University. ;)

I've never, nor will I ever, buy anything because of a 1% price drop. Regardless if it's $10 or $10,000, lowering the price by 1% is simply not enough to warrant a purchase I would otherwise not have made. It just doesn't affect the original price enough for me to care.

If I was going to buy a 5D at $2,179, then I certainly would have bought it at $2,199. Similarly, if I never would have bought a 5D at $2,199, then I'd never buy one at $2,179 either.

$20 off of a $2,200 purchase should never cause you to change your mind about buying it. That's how people get into debt.

 I want to buy pizza from where you buy pizza! The best deal around here is three mediums for $19.

I'm not sure if I should, but I find that a bit offensive... college kids can't work hard for things? My 5D will be paid for via photographic profits, but thanks for the vote of confidence.

$20 is $20, whether or not its going to make me buy it or not, its still 20 bucks that stays in my pocket and goes to something else I need.

If I'm planning on purchasing a product in the next few months, ANY price drop is a good trend. So, yes, a $20 price drop on the 5D is something that I'm going to be happy to see. All of these, in your opinion miniscule, drops are really adding up. In about a month the price of a new 5D has dropped around $400 and most of that came in small increments.

True, but when you have over $2,000 to spend on a piece of luxury equipment, the value of $20 goes down. It's not like you're getting $20 and you have $100 to your name. You have at least $2,000 to spend on a luxury good, while still feeding yourself, paying for rent, paying for electricity, and paying for school, etc etc.

Granted, I will always be happier when something costs $20 less than it did yesterday. But, I'd also be happier if I found a penny on the ground. The utility I'd gain from $20 off on a 5D is very, very, very small. Small enough that I can't see this making any sort of difference to anyone. I have a set economic system that I like to use, and part of that system is that if a 1% price decrease on an item nets me a relatively substantial amount of money (substantial to me in my current situation), then I really shouldn't be buying that item. I should instead save my money and try to find another way to get what I want. Not to say your way is wrong (it isn't), just that I don't think like that.

The way I, personally, with my own economic ideas, look at it, if you have the money to buy a 5D, then $20 should not make a difference one way or the other. Part of being able to afford something is being able to live with the opportunity costs that arise after you've purchased it. The proceeds from $20 amount to not much, so if you feel you can spend $2,000 on something you don't need, you should not be worried about getting $20 for things you do. If you are, then you're living way too close to your means.

Again, just my opinions.

To each college student, their own economic theory, I suppose :)

Ah, thanks for the clarification, I agree with you on all points now. And yes, if a 1% drop is enough to change one's decision either way about a purchase, then you shouldn't be buying it.
