I recently looked and looked around for a walkaround lens, reading reviews and looking on the forum, and decided to get the 28-105.

AH! I may just be spoiled by my 50mm, but I can't get any sharpness out of my photos. When I shot for a day in St. Louis and loaded them up to my computer, I honestly thought my focusing set was off.

So, my question is this:

What lens can I move to now?

I don't really need 105mm focal length at all, if it was 28 prime I would be happy, as most of my stuff is portraits.

Cheers,

Hank

Which 28-105? There is a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-f/4.5 USM, Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-f/4.5 USM II, and Canon EF 28-105mm f/4-f/5.6 USM. The latter being a turd.

Could you post some sample photos with EXIF information?

For non-L lens, I thought Tamron 28-75mmf2.8 rules that range.

that is how i feel about my 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens. the subject is out of focus or the pic is out of focus. someone told me that the rear focusing is off on this lens. i might send it to canon and have them calibrate it.
