For me it's simply too busy. Too much going on in the shot to truely hold my focus in any one spot. My eye has to search for the rings instead of just being drawn to them. Simplify the ribbon (less is more). Maybe use a vignette to hold the viewers attention at least to stay inside the image.

Geo, I hope you don't mind that I applied some PP to your image (i only spent 3 minutes on it, so the idea can be refined)... just to see if the views of others would change... the image has great potential.

This is much better. Still a little busy in the ring area, but a great crop to the original. See how the ribbon coming from the right helps draw the eye towards the rings now? Much better but I think the rings still get a little lost.

That's funny, that was my thought exactly.

The second one doesn't do it for me, either, because of the big square thing on the left. Also, when something is pretty much all white like that, the camera will underexpose it, like in your image, so you should shoot manual and set it so the camera thinks it will be slightly overexposed, but it was actually expose it properly.
