It's also a nice shot since it shows how the male controls his gorget in territorial displays that may not appear in many photos. Notable in this regard is the Calliope hummingbird, which looks like it has 50 beaks, sort of, when it flares its gorget.
Beautiful image, all such observations aside.

Brilliant capture!!! Bravo! I've witnessed the ruby throateds fighting here and they're just a blur. Never thought I'd see such a capture and so clear!
