How does my new 17-55 look? Both taken at around 50mm, ISO100, f/8.0, 100% crops, custom WB, and center focus. RAWS converted to jpg w/ no other PP in LR.

Looks damn sharp to me.

I wonder what an L would look like. I guess I'll have to wait until Christmas for that test though. Haha. This is my first lens after the kit so I have no idea if this is really slick or not.

Since I got my 17-55, I haven't used my 28-135. Most likely going to sell it.

Mike,

Here is a link ot a resolution chart that I regularly use. The chart is a reproduction of the ISO 12233 Resolution Chart.

I could try to do this at f/3.5 because my kit lens will only go that big. Otherwise it'd be unfair. Lemme go try.

HAHA! You're right ... who cares about my kit lens now ... in fact it wouldn't even stop down to f/3.5 ... it would only go to f/4.5. Here's the 17-55 at 2.8, same setup as above and the f/8.0 for camprison:

17-55mm @ f/8.0

The 17-55 is very sharp wide open. It's such a nice lens. People who shun EF-S don't know what they are missing out on.
