(in relation to wedding shoots)
I've only had my 17-55mm a couple of weeks and love it. I was just wondering how often you guys use your lens hoods. Just trying to decide whether or not to bother picking one up.
Thanks!

I had one on my 70-200 (because it came with the lens), and found it was great. Not only does it help protect the glass from getting bumped but the biggest thing for me is that it helps keep rain off the lens. Most of the time here it's raining at least a little bit and I get sick of constantly wiping the lens dry. I also love shooting groups and such shooting into the sun with flash , so it helps bring up the contrast in that situation. ~ Stefanie Pletscher

Oct 31, 2007 14:33 | #9 Just a follow-up... can someone shoot me an image of the 24-105 and 17-55 hoods side by side close up? I tried using my 24/105 hood today and it seems to work well. I'd just like to see how different they are before blowing $50 on a minimal difference.

Since I couldn't see any vignette with it, I began to wonder if it was enough. Still, I'd love to see the two side-by-side in an image for a comparison.

But yeah, definitely get a lens hood, its only for the better due to all the reasons listed in earlier posts. http://www.paradigmphotographyoc.com
