what???? It's hard to tell if exercising is even worth the effort??? Are you serious??

dude, exercise is probably one of the best things you could possibly do for your body. And it's not just about heart health. Being fit has a million additional benefits, like better mood, better sleep, better sex, easier to focus on tasks, more endurance for physical AND mental activites, confidence, feeling good about how you look, and sooo many other things. Not to mention, when exercising to your potential you get a natural high. I find the best part for me is the mood thing. Your body chemisty is different and you're just in a better overall mood all the time, and it makes waking up in the morning a lot easier.

Yup totally serious! You can think i'm an idiot for thinking it, but here's my reason why:

In the time that I was no longer forced to exercise (by the school / college / uni) I haven't felt unhealthier, or miserable or less confident. I'm happy about the way that I look and feel.

I used to play at Uni level badminton for my university, and I was challenged to a game about 6 months ago. Needless to say, I was still on form, and whooped the other guys ass at it... I haven't lost my energy in the things that I do.

However, alot of my friends from high school, go to the gym, to push weights, pump themselves up and look like Arnold Schwarzenneger. They think it impresses the girls. I just don't see the need.

Perhaps it's my surroundings that give me a bad impression for exercise or going to the gym. The people here do it for the wrong reasons.

oh my gosh, my first shoot of the season (or the odd winter wedding) always kills me. I'm always super sore and extra tired the next day. wedding shooting IS definitely physically demanding.

My example to this was earlier in the thread, possibly a couple of weeks ago. I asked if people had sore shoulders and neck after carrying your equipment around a wedding.

I certainly did, but i'm not sure if it's because of my health... perhaps it's stress? Maybe i'm stressed out in other things in my life? Hence the higher heart rate? Who knows... i'm just trying to figure this out :(

I just had a weird visual of Lloyd walking out of the church after the ceremony. The bride and groom exit and get hit my tomatoes, Lloyd then turns into the the Tazmanian Devil and destroys Edmonton.

well, there are always extremes. Muscleheads who work out to only bulk up is not what i'd call FIT. I'm just talking fit here. Not cut, ripped, mean, and ready to model male thongs or something.

You say you don't need exercise because you are in great form now, yet you are talking about concerns about your heart rate? Just being fit will help with your heart health, manage your cholesterol levels, and blood pressure. This is not necessarily stuff you can 'feel' when it's not optimal.

all I'm saying is there is no downside to being fit. (and that doesn't mean bodybuilding)

actually yes. It was -12C here this morning (10.5F). It wasn't even cold and I could have gone to work without a jacket. But being the wimp that I am, I wore one anyways.

good way of looking at it...

the downside i guess for me is the time it takes! i dont have much free time... and the only time i do have is when i'm at work, but i spend most of it online on these forums

Amanda reckons half an hour 3 times a week is the bare minimum. I reckon I could do that. I might give it a go for a month, and see if I can do it.

What do you do for exercise?

my guess would be that it will be moved to the general chat section (where it probably should have been anyway)
