Sounds like Suzy and I are having an equal amount of "fun" Tom, your agenda for the day sounds about the most interesting. That's one area of expertise I never delved into.

Good morning, all.

Wonderful shots, Kristin! On my monitor, they look wonderful!

So are you saying on my monitor they do not look good? LOL

Good morning all!

Jim, I love that shot, well done and great crop.

Kristin I went and looked at your blog too and I think you did a wonderful job, the pics are great!

BTW, I have not been around much the last few days, my brother from Canada is here visiting for a short time, so I am spending all my time with him and his wife to be. Just thought I would mention it so you all wouldn't think I was being stuck-up!:)

Have a great day!

Stuck up! ;)

Hi there Lisa - good morning also to Suzy, Jim and Kristin :D.

I haven't been in this area for a little bit. Things have gone bonkers again, here at work. The great corporate Gods have decided to reduce headcount by another 10% due to the latest merger. Soooooooo........

Rather than convening the standard firing squad, they are sending out letters to the target orgs offering up to one full year severance (equivalent of 1-year salary, if you have been there 20 years) if you leave right now. That's fine if you have the age and years service and were planning on going..... but if you're young and just starting out you can be SOL.

If they don't get the 10% reduction they want, then they will come after us and say: "Hey, we have a new job for you over in......" If we decline, then we are out, with NO severance. The good news is that the "new job" has to be within 50 miles of your house.

Fun times........ certainly does not make for a focused working environment.

Yikes, I've always hated to hear when companies do that, such manipulation, but it's business not personal as my son keeps trying to explain to me.

Yeah, this is about the 4th or 5th time I've gone through this in the past 20 years; hate the feeling..... makes trying to plan for the future a bit difficult, although now that I've got my 30+ years and medical, some things are a little easier .

WOW great shots!
Quick Question everyone....I have to apologize as I'm sure that this has been answered before but I've looked and looked all over. I my first wedding shoot coming up and I have the initial meeting set with the client next week. On the first meet what do you like to ask and what are the necessary need to knows? Here are the questions I am planning on asking:

When is the wedding -
Where is the wedding? –
Time of wedding -
Who is your hair and makeup person or location? (If Necessary) -
How many attendance? -
Children involved? -
How many guests? -
Band? Detail?
Buffet? Dinner Table?
Wedding planner? -
Location of ceremony –
Location of reception -
Traditional things? Garter?Bouquet? -
Special Guests? -
Special requests? –
Shot Ideas or Requests –
Finished Product Requests -

Any additional items that you like to ask when you first meet with the client?

I'm an organized freak. I have papers my client fills out with a lot of these details then, we go over them again a month before the wedding (a practice I'd like to just do over the internet soon)

time you need to be there, when will groom arrive
colors,
Special moments?
time between wedding and reception for shots (request at least 30 minutes but an hour is awesome!)
Type of ceremony
Flash allowed inside church
Off site location for portrait type shots.

But generally our first meeting is about them meeting us, seeing if they even like us (they always do :D ), talk about how they met, their day and what they want.

Hope this helps, it's just off the top of my head.

I probably should have put the word "also" in that post.

Either that, or I could make some kind of "I see all" comment...but I don't have that quality of optics in my eyes, yet.

Nice thought, but........ the money would run out too early. We have two weddings still to do, at least one new vehicle to buy and other misc. things, plus we like to travel and visit the kids. And, I can't start pulling from the 401K until age 59 1/2, and my medical will go up at least $200/month.

no..... things are a bit premature....

Stu,

I am very sorry to hear of your situation at work. I hope things will come out in your favor. Company downsizing is just the pits...my company did this in 2006. We lost about 15 folks due to a big contract hit in our case. We are now back on track and bigger than before we took the hit. We have all worked our tails off bring in new clients the past two years..that is what turned things around for us.
