Stu, stunning wide picture. Love the composition. It's a gorgeous site. Congrats!

Jim, you can borrow my 70-200 2.8 IS anytime. I trust you with it. And it's insured. :) But the 135 should do well. The 85 will not be long enough. I generally take the 40D out for sports just for the high speed, but the images are not as crisp to me as the 5D but the extra reach is helpful. So, I travel light(er) with just the 40D and 70-200 and that's it.

The 24-70 is truly my one and only lens on the 5D because it covers everything indoors for me. But I don't travel with a flash. I will have to soon. I am doing more and more indoor events.

Darn. Too late again.

Maybe I'll just tiptoe in and see how she's doing.

On the other hand, maybe I'd better not.:o:o

Hey, did you move my phone? I woke up and it was on my other nightstand? ;)

Love the avatar :D;)

My first offical wedding of the season is May 19th. Its my first year of weddings and I have one May 24th and July 12th. I shot one in January this past year, and my very first wedding was Mar 2006. I've got a lot to learn, and I'm having to rent some equipment, but Its going to be a blast.

Can't wait to see what you get. I have a wedding on the 19th also. I have a wedding every Saturday in May and June except 2. LOVE WEDDING SEASON.

Wow, Lisa...you are going to be one busy bee :) That's a lot of weddings and a huge PP load! How many photos do you usually take during the event? If I am doing the ceremony and reception I can get up to 1,000! Can't wait to see some samples.

Suzie,

Thank you...I am going to the local ball field tonight at 7PM and test fire a few shots...I may come knocking on your door afterwards. It is very generous of you to offer.

At the Wednesday funeral I ran into some serious sun flare...I was shooting directly into the sun at 0930. I am saving the shots but with some intense PP to make them look right. I wonder how the 24-70MM would have handled that challenge? Also, do you think a ND filter might of helped?

The 24-70L is a fantastic lens on a full-frame body. That's my 'default' lens on the 1Ds Mk II. I also have the 24-105, and it lives on the 1D Mk III for some unexplained reason. Logic would suggest I'd want the slightly longer reach on the 1Ds, but I don't, probably because I can crop. ...

Tom,

I all but abandoned my 24-70MM when I got the 17-55MM EF-S IS. I am eager to try it on the 5D...I have observed that Suzie has hers glued onto her 5D.

I did drag out the 24-70MM and used it on my 30D for a while...but every time I get a wedding or group event out comes the 17-55MM EF-S.

I do like the 24-105MM but I have found two issues: 1) the bokah is poor and 2) I had some serious sun flare issues at the funeral I did on Wednesday. I had to shoot directly into the sun at 9:30AM and all my shots look hazy...thank goodness for PSCS2 and elbow grease...I got them all looking great...but a lot of PP for sure! Of course my second issue may be an "operator error" issue and not the lens :-(

I am still learning about light and exposure.

Great! You are off and running for the 2008 season...best of luck. Be sure and post some samples.

My next wedding is the 20th-21st of June. This is for the Sergeant Major of the Army's (SMA) son. It will be a big social drill for sure! I did the Engagement Session for the couple last summer. I am taking all three bodies and a sack of lenses for sure. My ever patient wife is going along to help me :)

Back from they gym.

I'm glad to be busy, my down time drove me nuts, I rather be busy with things to do, then sitting around getting into trouble LOL.

I shoot with an assistant. We on average get 1800 pics between us. I cull those down to around 800 w/pp to put up in a gallery. I KNOW it's a lot, but I feel this way, It's their wedding and if the shot is good, not a duplicate etc, they are the ones who get to choose if they want it or not, not me.

See now I don't have the wake up of the imposing face staring at me while I'm reading the thread first thing in the morning.:p

Maybe not, but the image of a bull wearing clothes and standing on his hind legs has to also be a little unsettling, I would think.

Thanks I have a pretty busy schedule from may 17th till June 1st.
Other than the two weddings, my dd dance recital is June 1st and i'm hoping to make a little money off of it. I'm going to shoot in the pit and post photos for parents to look at. My sisters boyfriend is the owner, so I should be able to make some money. The charity event is the 19th, and my sister's graduation is the 16th. So that weekend is soo booked. I'll be tired after that!

Thanks Kathy :D - the coloration was subtle due to early morning light, but the more I stared while there, the more "electric" it seemed. I think I captured it pretty accurately.

Appreciate that you took the time to look at the blog - it needs a little updating. I look at some of the folks here on POTN who seem to make several entries a week. I just don't have the time or energy, or that much of true interest to write about. Maybe I'm just going for quality over quantity :D.

BTW I was looking at your blog earlier, you take some beautiful shots, I really enjoy looking at them, very inspiring.
