So since i'm new in here, can everyone tell me a bit about themselves?

In a nutshell...I'm a 25 year old sahm/w of a 2 year old daughter and a 9 month old daughter. Been married almost 7 years. Been taking photos with a 'old flim rebel' camera since 2003, and with my 30D since 2006. I got a canon powershot some time between that. I'm a digital scrapbooker and have been published twice. I just got CS3, have used elemnts for about 3 years before that.

Been taking photos forever. My dad did a lot of amature nature and crime scene photography. So i guess i got that from him. I did my first wedding in 06..when my dd was 5weeks old and i had my gall bladder surgery 3 days before...but whatever. Did my 2nd in january. Have done two bridals and two engagements this year. Everyone has seemed happy so far....

I'm a 32 year old soon-to-be stay at home father. I am currently doing a post doctoral research fellowship in plant genetics. I did some photography in grad school with a hand-me-down Pentax MV. Last May, I bought a Rebel XTi with tax refund money. Started chatting with our wedding photographer and sent her some images to critique. Had kept in contact with her off and on through the year when she offered me a second shooter gig last December. Don't know where this will lead, but it'll keep me happy and some money flowing in while I'm at home with the soon-to-be-born Iguana (kid).

Sincer we're doing thumbnail bios, I'll throw mine in too.

I'm old...66. I'm married 46 years, but no children (we're still thinking about it).
I don't shoot weddings, but I really like the people who hang out in this chat thread, so here I am.
I have lots of equipment but no talent.
I became a moderator here a couple years ago, and do whatever I can to make sure POTN remains the friendliest photography forum on the net.
I'm not particularly good at anything, but if you need a portrait of a railroad locomotive, I'm your guy.

I'm very happy you've decided to hang out with us.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

[Edit] As usual, I was exaggerating. I just said I was 66, but that won't be true till August. I'm actually a much younger 65

I'm not particularly good at anything, but if you need a portrait of a railroad locomotive, I'm your guy. Particularly good at delivering fantastic sarcastic one-liners at the most appropriate moment possible. And yes, takes great train shots.

I'm very happy you've decided to hang out with us.

There I fixed that for ya! :D

Morning, Stephanie! How are you? I slept well, but would have like an hour or so more. We went out to dinner too late and my youngest was sick the moment we walked in so my husband took him home, but left me without a purse and my other son eating. His cell phone doesn't work, so I waited and called him at home. He realized he had the wallet to pay for dinner on him. So, an hour later, a good take out and a credit card appeared. Thank goodness. I thought I was going to have to wash dishes all night. :)

I haven't had anything quite like that happen to me, but a few days ago I dropped my wife off at the local Indian casino. I really don't like the place, so that's when I go looking for trains to photograph. As soon as she disappeared through the front door, I realized she had left her cell phone in the car connected to the charger. She gets very nervous if she can't get hold of me, so I parked the car, and spent then next half hour wandering through the place trying to find her. I eventually located her and delivered the phone to her.

I occasionally refer to the cell phone as the umbilical cord.

Are you sure your wife is not my wife's sister? THe other day she left her cell phone at home...called me at work...gave me a list of people to call/email to tell them to reach her on her work number! I just shook my head and started sending emails...yes dear ;)

:lol:No, Lois isn't that sociable, at least by phone. She really only calls me, and nobody has her number except her brother and I. In fact, I have my number programmed on her phone so all she has to do is press 2 buttons to call me.

I'm mature for my young age -- 64...been married 44 years to the same wonderful woman...have three kids...five grandkids.

POTN is the best...and our Chat is the pick of the litter :) We really appreciate you keeping us all in perspective Tom :)

I have more gear than sense and I have actually learned how to use some of it thanks in large measure to POTN and a lot of practice.

I am blessed with a great Army pension and a (very) well paying second career as an Engineer. Couple that with an understanding wife and look out B+H...here I come again!

I love to share my photography with others and willingly offer my meager skills pro bono to those who need it...first of all to Soldiers and their Families.

Congratulations on an apparently long, successful marriage. I'm always happy to see someone else who married young and made it work.

Well Good Morning, Tom. I see you are a West Coast early bird again :)

I am just heading out the door with Elaine to go to the Fort Belvoir Officer's Club for Sunday Brunch. We go twice a month with our dear friends we met 34 years ago in, of all places, Cheyenne, WY. We both ended up here in Springfield, VA area in 1985 and now we "double date" every Thursday night and do the O'Club twice a month. Nothing beats friendship! That is why I value POTN so much...I have made so many friends here from all around the world.
