HAs anyone had Err 1 show up when the temp outside was slightly cooler and as soon as it warmed up...no problems at all? I have a Rebel Xt.

This is exactly what has been happening to me...I was with the school on a field trip at the local zooon Friday.
It was around 50 F and I kept getting Err 1 and 99.
I only got Err 99 twice but the enitre time I was outside, I got Err 1. So, as soon we go into the reptile house; CLick.....the camera starts working.

So I tried shooting some pics the other day of my daughter. We have a draft house and I store my camera bag on the floor. Same thing, Err 1. So, Igo into the bathroom, turn on my hairdryer to heat up the room...I DID nOT take the hairdryer to the camera!!!!!! As soon as the room warmed up....Click...and then I could take some shots.

I have called the repair center and told them what is going on and one of the techs agree and states that it is the pins that need to calibrated or replaced in the camera....

this so sucks!

ERR01 and ERR99 both can be caused by poor communication between the camera and lens. It may be possible that your contacts are just dirty and making poor contact. You can try to clean them by gentle rubbing them with a pencil eraser. If you want to invest a few $$ a better option would be to use contact cleaner though I would not spray it directly on the contacts as the can will suggest but spray it on a Q-tip and use that to clean the contacts. A few more $$ and you can get something like DeOxit, a gold contact cleaner and de-oxidizer.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I have done that and it still doesn't work. I have used both the contact cleaner and an eraser. But the Deoxit might be worth it. Thanks.

If the eraser trick did not work, neither will Deoxit. DeOxit does the same thing but more gently.
