Every year at this time I am bombarded with "Happy Halloween" every where I go.
I'm old, I'm fat, and I live in a very rural area where trick-or-treating would require hiking boots. We don't do the Holloween thing.
Starting tomorrow, I know people will start saying, "Happy Thanksgiving." Then it'll be "Merry Christmas," "Happy Hanukkah," or "Happy Kwanzaa," followed by "Happy New Year."
What a bunch of hypocritical nonsense! Most of the people who say it couldn't care less if I have happy respective "holidays"!
I say just get it over with! Starting in mid-October, just wish everyone you meet "Happy Hallowthanksmassyear" and be done with it.
Hallowthanksmasyear = the commercial holiday season starting sometime after Labor Day and lasting through January 2nd, in which you will be bombarded with a constant exhortation to BUY, BUY, BUY.
"Bah! Humbug!" is too weak an epithet!

Psst, Valentine's Day and Easter are right around the corner.
