I was walking to the back of my house, when i saw this guy, i have never seen anything like this before....luckly he didnt see me so i ran back grabbed my camera and snapped a few from inside the house through a closed window.

Does anyone know what it is??

Thanks Reyno, i wasnt expecting much shooing through a dirty glass window at iso 800 but it worked out ok..

Nice little bird, but I have never seen one out my window. At least you have a great photo of it.

Very interesting... The bill sure does look like a tanager, but the plumage is wrong, especially that rufous rump. You might want to post the picture at whatbird.com/forum, they might know what it is there. If not, ask a local Audubon chapter or birding club.
