Anyone use one of these and could think of why they say it works only with Manfrotto?

It just straps onto the tripod, around the legs. If you think it'll work (and the main reasons why it wouldn't would be if the legs on the Gitzo aren't long enough for the strap spacing or if the legs are too small for the straps to cinch down around), then go for it. It's really designed for tripods with at least one leg that has no pad on it. Also, because of the spacing of the straps that hold the tripod to the strap, I can't retract one of the legs all the way when I'm carrying the tripod. I don't find it to be a problem, though. John

Seriously I dont know anyting about Manfrotto tripods really, seriously like i didn't know if they all had some kind of clip or special loop on the legs for these straps. Gear List? The 401N works by strapping one of the three tripod legs to the strap with three velcro strips, and then holding the other legs with another pair of straps that go around all the legs. The nice thing about this particular strap is that you don't have to remove the strap from the tripod to use it. All you do is unfasten the two outer straps and set the tripod up. The other three straps hold the strap to the tripod. John

Nov 01, 2007 21:21 | #7 Thanks JW, just perfect i think. I sometimes need my legs and just a body with one lens, so this makes carrying my tripod with me much easier thsan having to carry my thinktank bag just to strap the legs too. Gear List? My gear is bigger than yours? Just shoot have fun...
