Just received the new 30D and am having trouble seeing properly through the view finder. Is there a product that one could use to make it easier to see with wearing glasses. I do not want to have to take my glasses off just to take a picture. I thought I would ask you EXPERTS here as you hve a whole bunch more knowledge then I do at this point, LOL. Thanks in advance.

could you explain a little more? is the focus in the vf unclear or are you having a tough time physically with using the camera with the glasses on? if it's the former, the little dioptic wheel near the viewfinder will solve your problem. just look through the vf while turning the tiny wheel one detent at a time (you know, better? or worse? better?...or worse?). man I wish I were a lasik candidate! if it's the latter, Canon makes a range of eyecups that will likely help.

I use glasses with the 30D and do not have to take them off, I too would look at the dioptic wheel and see if it needs any adjustmant.

I also found it hard to see through the VF on the 30D, infact I found the 350D easier as I could see the entire VF instead of having to move around to see the edges if that makes sense, I thought I would have simiar problems with the 5D but so far it was just the 30D that I found hard to see the entire VF with glasses on.

I dont recommend taking them off & relying on the diopter, chances are you will end up dropping your glasses.

Thanks alot guys, no I don't have trouble seeing in the view finder just that physically with glasses on it is hrd to get close enough. I understand from other people that if you use the eye piece extender then the viewfinder is cut in about half the size and that is not good either. I thought maybe the eyecup with the big rubber piece might work but they say it does not fit the 30D. Please help me. Maybe I will have to make one, LOL.

The eyepiece extender shrinks the apparent size of the VF by about 15, not 50%. That will make it possible for you to see the whole screen and surrounds. Other than that, switching to a camera with LiveView or getting a Zigview LCD adapter are about your best options.

The eyepiece extender is made for the express purpose of increasing "eye relief". It is meant to help people who can't press their eyes right up against the viewfinder, typically, because they wear glasses. The extender shrinks the viewfinder image just small enough so that if you look through it from a small distance away, the viewfinder image will appear to be the correct size. If you're wearing glasses, you will not really notice any difference in the size of the viewfinder image at all because your eye will sit further from the viewfinder than people without glasses.

I wear glasses and had trouble using a 20D. The Canon extender worked well for me.
