I remember posting that it seemed a bit premature when this award was made all those months ago. I was told the pros must have had enough time to judge it. Maybe next time the jury will wait a while.

Obviously there are some folks there who are extremely suspicious of Canon and are not satisfied that Canon has told us everything. I hope this fix is a 100% fix and all is well, but I tend to think it will take a Mark IIIN to rid most of us that they finally fixed the entire issue to satisfaction. Again, I hope that Canon has figured this all out and that my suspicions are unfounded. Canon continues to play word games and break the Golden Rule. I have watched eBay prices plummet on this perceived &^%$%.

I fortunately was able to return mine for a full refund, but my pockets have become deeper as a result of this experience. My next purchase will be made not as an early adopter, but only after being satisfied that qualified testers such as RG have confirmed that the product resembles the advertising hype. Once bitten............

Yes, very suspicious. But, who (and how) has aroused all this suspicions?

Otherwise, there are people plenty of common sense.
Look at the post of Brett B, bottom page in this link

All Pretty irrelevant really now,
I do find it funny that they try to compare it to incident's where people can die, "Canon 1D MK3 AF problem causes massive explosion" or something to that effect.
I am one of the lucky ones, Sent mine back after like a month, 6 weeks, just waiting I guess until it is confirmed if it really does work or not, so far generally reports seem good.
I DO not want a 1Dmk3N to appear, as that will really mess it all up for 1D MK3 people. Personally if they should bring out a 1DMK3N NOW, it should be to replace all existing MK3s for the Customer's that bought or own a MK3 now (Assuming it works ofc) :)

IMO its way to early for Canon to come out with a 1DMKIIIn.

Thats just going to add fuel to the fire.

Zactly! The MkIII fix will have to prove itself first!

Unfortunately that goes quite contrary to Canon's behavior in this matter. They clearly knew what the problem was as well as the fix and just as clearly fixed the cameras in the pipeline and on the dealers shelves before even offering to fix the ones they'd already sold. And as far as I know they still have not fixed even the first one in the recall. Why would they act any different in producing a MkIIIn or any other variation such as the 1Ds MkIII. ;)

Thing is, what alternatives are there to the 1D MK3 now? though maybe that was one that slipped through the net.

I do. Canon's description of the problem they fixed did NOT match the various problems people were having. There's more than one issue with the MK-III, some or all. The Submirror MAY be the fix for the hot-sunny day issue, but not the other problems.

I'm still hoping when Canon finally gets around to fixing some of the cameras in the field we see positive results, but it's looking grim :(

I certainly wouldn't buy a 1Ds until we start seeing positive news.

Lets not drive into hasty conclusions, based on 2 bad reports [which can be due to unrelated sources].

The 'fix' is just starting being implemented these days. Give it at least a month, when only then majority reports can be analyzed for the good or bad.
