If the bride is nervous with you in particular, then here's my suggestion. I try to have an engagement session not too terribly long before the wedding so that they get used to me being around, and used to being in front of the camera. They also get to know me, so that we can interact well, and make good progress.

No, not nervous with me - nervous about getting married. Of all the things to worry about on that day, I would be the last thing on her mind. And it's hard to get certain couples comfortable in front of the camera if they don't want an engagement session or don't want to pay for one.

Some just include them in their packages. If they don't want one, oh well. I'd take it if it were free. It's nice pictures together.
