all i can say is that i am now 100% sure that USPS is run by monkeys. i sent out 2 packages this week and guess what, both were delivered to the wrong address!!!!! now at first i thought that i screwed up but i looked at the reciept as well as the confirmation slips and guess what, all the information is correct!!!! i called USPS and all i got was "sorry sir, there is nothing we can do at the moment". now, normally i wouldn't wish harm on anybody but i will admit that the thoughts that ran through my head are less than pleasant. i now have 2 people that paid for 2 lenses that are pissed because they don't have their items and the only thing i can do is do the right thing and refund them the money while i waste my time with a bunch of idiot that obviously can't read or even complete the very simple task of taking a package from point A and dropping it at point B without screwing up.

you can go to hell USPS!!!!!!!!!!!

on a side note, did anybody had to go through the USPS insurance claim? what are my chances of actually getting either my lenses or my money back?

I have a long, boring story about how the USPS screwed up my forwarding when I moved. More than once. Suffice to say that I'm now paying as many bills on-line as possible. I'll give them as little of my money as possible.

Their latest trick is to send mail to the wrong address, and this is getting more frequent.

Don't even try calling the USPS direct - the system won't let you talk to a human.

tell me about it, i have been trying to reach a live person for like 40 mins and all it did was transfer me in circles....

i really need to figure out what i can do to fix this though because i do feel bad for the 2 people that bought the lenses from me and i also really don't feel like being out of $1600...

I would call the local PO, both at your sending end and the recieving end. Presumably, you have a tracking number. The local offices are the only place where you'll find a human. They may not know anything, but they'll be a far cry more helpful than the crude, circular, voice-driven menu system at USPS headquarters.

i did call my local PO when i first learned that they decided to send my package to NC instead of TX. all i got was "well, there is not much we can do, all you can do is wait till it gets back to you". i am fine with that since i know that it is already on its way back. my bigger problem is with the second package which was delivered to the wrong person. what happens if he decides to keep it?

Are you completely sure the people you sold it to didn't receive it? I sold a lens on ebay and the guy said it was left at a nearby pharmacy by UPS and he didn't get it. Turns out, they did deliver it to the right address. I think he was trying to screw us. Luckily, we had insured it and had all the tracking info., etc. Good luck. That sucks.

Don't get me started about the postal service... I went 'round and 'round with them about six months ago because they kept delivering mail that was addressed to my address but for another individual. I kept refusing the mail and replacing it in the box. I finally took two pieces to the local post office and explained the situation to the counter person. He said he'd mark it and give it to the carrier and that should solve the problem. Two days later the same two pieces of mail reappeared in my mail box with the counter person's notes on them. I finally left the mail in my box along with a harshly worded note. I haven't received any more mail for this person, but if I do it's going right down the shredder...

Always remember... it is far better to be pissed off than pissed on.

here is an update for the 2 people that care:

i filled a claim on the lost lens and the other one is now on it's way back to me. however, i ordered a 17-40L that i needed for a job tomorrow and i paid for 2nd air so i can have it in time. well, the seller shipped it via Fedex and it was supposed to get to me yesterday before 4:30PM. needless to say, i did not get the lens so i just talked to Fedex and it seems like the lens is now lost forever so i am again, out of more money :(

maybe i did something to piss somebody off and now every package that has my name on it is being "misplaced" on purpose...

I care, you are having some serious misfortune!

I hope it all gets sorted soon.

Take them to court! Loss of income!

This is why I can't understand how someone like Ronald stays sane or beats the odds..

I too have had a lot of bad luck.. won't use USPS,. etc.. but really the days of Fed-Ex being much better are long past, I think it was in the '80's when they stopped bothering.
