Here are a couple of my best "so far", I've only had my 40D for a few weeks. Thanks to all the posted problems, I spent the first week shooting tests. My conclusion is that the camera works fine but it is different than my 20D and it is taking some practice to get acquainted. Sooo, I am re-shooting birds for which I already have good shots. I am pretty pleased with these results:

This Loggerhead Shrike sat for an interesting pose. A print of this ended up hanging on a friends wall.

This Merlin sat for dozens of shots, some of which are the best ever for me of this species. I can't decide which one to frame. This is a significant crop, just to see how it would print.

The primary improvements for me, quieter shutter and better viewfinder are very helpful for my birding.
