With the introduction of Registered Camera User Settings, 40D has joined 5D and 1D series cameras.
Many 40D owners, including myself, really like that new feature..

Question: How did you set and register your C1, C2, C3?
Elaborate please, don’t just say Portrait, Action, Landscape.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

Hmm, 39 views and not a single reply..
Is it safe to conclude than that POTN 40D owners generally do not use Registered Camera User Settings?

It's pretty simple. You can copy any mode(Av,M, etc.) to the custom position by registering to the custom position via the menu's 'custom user setting'. You can set up the camera exactly the way you like before registering or go to the custom position after registering a mode, make changes and then re-register the setup to that same position. All camera functions including menu settings will remain in that position till changed and re-registered by the user. If you make changes without registering them, the camera will revert to the registered settings if power cycled or moved off that dial position and back.

It's all there in the user manual, by the way.

I know how to set and use them, thank you, but that was not the question.
I just wanted to know how many people use them and which values did they set them to.

Sorry Hermeto, I misunderstood. I have C1 set up in AV mode for AI servo, high speed drive and CFn 4-2-1. C2 is the same but Tv mode and C3 is a basic one shot setup for portraits, using a custom picture style.

No problem my friend!

I have C1 set for portraits: Manual mode, single shot, with HTP enabled.
C2 is for action: Tv mode, high speed continuous shooting, Auto ISO.
C3 for landscapes: Av, single shot, long exposure noise reduction on..

Still don’t have the final selection, still experimenting, ‘tho..

I just received my 40D yesterday (I have a shoot this afternoon if the model comes through), but I've set my custom functions as follow:

C1 - for outdoor glamour/portraits (ISO 100, Single Shot, Av, RAW, Aperture 2.0)
C2 - for action (Auto ISO, High Speed, Tv, 1/500th)
C3 - for studio (100 ISO, M, f/4, 1/160th, Single Shot)

I'll refine the settings as I work with the camera more. Those were just to start.

Not too much time to play, but for the moment:

C1 - For BIF -- Tv, 1/500 sg, WB day, 9 AF point, AI Servo; 3 fps ...
C2 - For Manual Lenses -- M mode; Live View, Single Shoot, ....
C3 . To be determined ...

Cheers

Or perhaps a lot of POTN users aren't 40D owners, but just curious ;)
