As the title suggests, I got approval from the "Senior Domestic Advisor" (aka, the wife) and I pulled the trigger on the 5D + grip from B&H today!!! ahhh, so excited to enter the world of full frame!

I'm also getting the 24-105 as well for kicks... My 24-70 isn't going anywhere as I need the 2.8 but if the 24-105 finds its "niche" I'll keep it, if not I'll sell it and put it towards an 85L....

now the worst part of ordering new hardware- THE WAIT!!!!

Congrats! The 5D paired up with either the 24-70 or the 24-105 is really great!

Yes, I'm going to keep my 30D as a backup... I'm undecided as to whether I'll sell my 10-22 to fund a 16-35... I'm gonna wait and see....

Yeah, I thought about it, but gauging the improvements Canon made to the 40D vs. the 30D, I found it wasn't worth it to me to pay the premium... $2200 for a 5D is a great deal and I need one now so... now I just need that Brown truck!!

Congrats on joining the 5D Club! And the 24-70 will still be your best friend indoors.

I just picked up a used 5d, and 24-105 with extra battery for 2600 on this forum (thanks aaronlam). So far I LOVE it. Coming from the 400d, the viewfinder is so much nicer, the dof shallower, and the noise pattern is a lot finer and more pleasant. I think 24-105 is an underrated lens. I have the 17-55 on the 400d, but I will most likely sell it. I will probably keep the 400D as a back up, and pair it up with a long lens on trips, so I wont have to do all the lens swapping.
I now also love my tamy 28-75 on the 5d. Its a phenom portrait lens. wickedly sharp.
