Never. Not even way back when I bought my first EOS Elan, in 1994. I do, however, use the P mode on occasion, and use Av a great deal of the time. Full manual and Tv, too.

The green box is just too constricting, IMO. You have no control over the most importants features of the camera including flash, exposure compensation, focus mode, etc.

If I had to hand over the camera for someone to take a picture, it in the P mode or 'Green Box' mode for sure.

Never use auto

Use P sometimes

Manual only, and Tv when shooting soccer to make sure I keep a shutter speed high enough to stop the action.


40D, 20D, 24-105 4.0L, 24 2.8, 70-200 2.8L, 18-55 kit lens, 2 x 430ex's, way too many extras to list and even more that I need :mrgreen:

ive never used auto on any camera i have bought.. not because i might think im too good for it, but simply for the fact that auto gives no control of what your doing.

Couldn't find it on my 1D Mark II. ;)

This auto modus doesn't support RAW, so it's useless for me too. :(

I usually shoot in AV mode, then M, then TV. If weddings weren't so hectic I would like to shoot in M all of the time.

camera has been returned to me in green mode, but as much as possible i avoid it like the plague. won't learn a thing using that.
