Hello Everyone!

I'm thinking of getting a sensor brush. I have only had to use my Rocket Blower to blow dust off of the sensor, but have a few specks that dont want to move when blown on.

I'm looking at either the Copperhill SensorSweep, or the Arctic Butterfly. I dont know which one to get. The SensorSweep requires you to blow the bristles with a Rocket Blower to charge the bristles, and the Arctic Butterfly has its own motor to spin the bristles to charge them.

The convenience of the Arctic Butterfly charging itself by spinning isn't attractive enough to spend almost four times the price of the Copperhill SensorSweep. It doesn't look too hard to blow on the bristles with my Rocket Blower to charge the SensorSweep.

What do all of you use and recommend?

I can't speak to Copperhill's products, but I own Visible Dust products and they work very well for cleaning sensor dust.

I use a synthetic artist's brush to dislodge dust specks and a bulb blower to get them out of the camera. Works a treat for just a few <insert your currency here>. :-)

Here's a great writeup on the subject of dust and (low-cost) brushes:

Thanks for the website Anders! It doesn't make it sound so scarry! I think I'll go ahead and order the CopperHill SensorSweep brush. I think if you are very gentile, you won't hurt the sensor by brushing it.

I would never touch the sensor with a brush, or anything else that has been used before for cleaning. Use a new lintless pecpad on a swab of some kind. A brush is too easy to contaminate.
