Well a couple months ago I posted up that I took a freelance job with a local lifestyle magazine: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=373303

So far I've done about a little over a dozen assignments for them...

Anyways, I went by their location today to drop off some invoices and they gave me an advance copy of the magazine and one of my shots made the cover! I am more than proud and excited! I'm not really sure why the picked the images that they did because to me it wasn't my best but I'm not complaining. 8)

Here are a few crappy scans I just took of the magazine...

All the pages my images can be seen on are available here: http://mpgphoto.zenfolio.com/p532853134 (external link)

Nice work, but...

and they gave me an advance copy

ONE? They gave you ONE? When it comes out, ask for more. Samples (tear sheets) like that are what you use to get the well paying jobs. ;)

Don't worry, I'll be grabbing plenty. I think they print 50,000+ magazines so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks!

Nice one :D really well done, I think the cover shot is very attractive...

Question: That's supposed to be a scan?! Cos that looks like a straight PSD > JPG conversion! Amazing quality!

Answer: I scanned the actual magazine on my home HP C6150 "all-in-one" unit and then just resized the scan for the web. I'm somehow getting a faint vertical line in all my scans but other than that it does what it's supposed to. :)

oh yes, i didn't notice the line till you mentioned it... about 33% away from the left edge :) it's a fantastic scan none-the-less.. perhaps there is something on the sensor, might just require a quick clean :) I have a HP scanner, but nowhere near as good as that!

getting back to your topic though, congratulations on the front cover, I think the image was well chosen by the magazine... it certainly gives the feeling of grandure and elegance!
