I think a wee bit of contrast might boost this? I like the whole photo;)
WOuld make a pretty sweet watercolor in PS.

Barb I would have to agree with Flo. Picture looks great, maybe a tad underexposed. Contrast and a little color balance in PS will be your best bet......Here's a quick edit

I was tring to lighten up the shadows...looking at my monitor the colors look more natural. If I was going to over saturated to photo you would have most likly seen it popup in the greens first

My Basis Job is commercial printing, 44 years in the business. I deal with allot of customers.....Take the book National Geo........There guys in the Magazine KNOW how to shoot the best pictures.. I printer the Magazine each month....So when I'm tiring to give a color OK I know what I'm looking for...from the photo side....and the customer whens more ink for there money which will cause Over Saturated

What I am seeing is washed out creams and really bright pumpkins:( and the greens are brighter.maybe its my screen...wasn't anything personal, just what I was seeing. The lightening you did works great.

In Lightroom (and CS3 I believe) there are two sliders that have similar effect:

Vibrance - which increases the saturation of the weaker colours more,

Saturation - which increases the saturation of all colours equally.

I tend to use Vibrance rather than Saturation to bring out the weaker tones (creams).

PS EDIT: Forgot to note - in LR, the Saturation slider has a pronounced effect on skin tones - it has a devastating tendency to make people orange. In other words, Saturation will bring out the oranges. Vibrance is recommended for skin tones to avoid bumping up the orange tones in skin.

Thanks for all your comments. They are helpful.

And thanks for pointing me to the Shadow/Highlight tool. I just upgraded from PSE 2.0 to PSE 6.0, and I that tool is new to me. I used it and your comments to adjust the image, and I like the change.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but also the photo is tilted a bit. Try rotating about .5-1 degree counterclockwise. I think the composition is probably nice, if the photo is aligned properly and has the correct lighting, colors, saturation, etc etc.
