OMG, this is hilarious. I was thinking of posting the EXACT same thread this morning. I'm glad you saved me some time.

Seriously, someone has to be sacked in the market study department at Canon!
How can you be so wrong and go against 98% of your users (ok, I'm extrapolating here, not sure we're a perfectly representative population)?

Even if we're "non-representative" by a 25% margin they're about 75% wrong. ;)

The next logical step would be to introduce the "funky button" on the 5D2 which will do absolutely nothing but will have a led light around it with customizable colors via C.Fn.

That would be more useful! At least it would do something

OMG I know!!!! Imagine if you were out with 5 friends shooting the same body and lens you could each set the funky button to a different light color so you won't mistake your cameras ever again!!!

CANON! WE NEEEEED THE FUNKY BUTTON!!!!

And it could be a nice way to differentiate the classes. The Rebel could have a lame 3 colors Funky Button, the 50D and the 5D2 could have 5 colors while the 1D could have a wooping 6 colors to choose from!

Heck, might as well start to make the bodies in different colors. Bubble-gum pink EOS-1Ds mk IV anyone?...

I tried it once and it opened my electric garage door, so I quit using it.

It is the only thing that is more of a waste than the on camera flash.

Come on Doc, at least you can open a bottle of beer with the camera flash! ;)

You guys, I think I've figured it out. Let's retort: there is no logical explanation for the PB, there is no practical use for the PB, there is no reason for it to exist, the 1% of the people who have actually pushed that button, did so out of curiosity. There can only be one, single reason for that button to exist on those DSLR's. Marketing. Because of that button, they surely won't sell any less cameras, with it, perhaps it might lean someone who is intimidated by using computers and needing to know how to 'manipulate' an image, it might convince someone who's used to point, shoot, take the roll out, have it processed, get photos, that digital cameras are easy to get along with, too, see, you just plug the camera to the printer, push the print button on the camera, and voila, you get photos from the printer's tray! Easy!

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

I want to have in programmable. I would set it for mirror lockup. Please Canon come to your senses. A firmware upgrade is all it would take.
