I pushed it once, but it wasnt hooked up to anything, so nothing happened. I just wanted to see what the button felt like to push. I think secretly I was hoping that something really awsome and unexpected was gonna happen.

I feel like if you are shooting with a $3000 camera and printing straight from it, and not doing any post processing on your photos, you should be using a point and shoot.

HAHA... no. I wish I could re-map mirror lock-up to it.

Now that would be good for them to do that:lol:

I must admit I don't understand the issue with the DP button.

On the 350D, it doubles up as the button to illuminate the LCD panel backlight. That's an enormously useful function in some situations and I use it frequently. So the DP button isn't a waste of space at all, because it's not taking up any space.

I should stress that I've never used this button to do anything other than turn on the LCD backlight.

My old G7 and current G9's print button can be customized to do some other things. I still have never used them.:D

You need to stick a Polaroid instant film cartridge into the expansion slot before pressing the print button. :)

Heck, might as well start to make the bodies in different colors. Bubble-gum pink EOS-1Ds mk IV anyone?...

Why do they make the 400D/xti in silver?

Paraphrased from Steven Wright:

On my 30D there's this print button that doesn't do anything. Every so often I would push it just to check. Yesterday, I got a call from a woman in Madagascar. She said, "Cut it out."

No, I have never used the print button. I don't know where it is. But I do know it's one of the new and improved features that the 30D has over the 20D! ;)

Suddenly my wife would become interested in photography!!! And camera body price would become a secondary issue for both of us :-)

So that I could buy it for $50 lower ? LOL.

And another reason for me to go with a silver one was from back in the days I had a silver Rebel G with me on vacation in Florida, and the guy shooting beach scenes next to me asked if my camera was getting too warm in the sun. His black SLR felt way too hot after being exposed to sun for about an hour, mine was OK.

Of course I don't consider myself a professional, I know a few people who'd rather die than buy an SLR that's any other color than black.

Gosh, can you imagine if dSLRs take the path of the cell phones... rainbow colors, shiny polished finish, jewels, features you can brag about but never use... a SLR for everyone in the family. Scary.

At least you would get to buy all the L's you want with fewer complaints from the spouse, right?

You guys must admit that it is the coolest looking button, it even looks like it would light up if actually pressed and operational, what ever that entails? I bet Canon thought that button would translate into photographic printing paper, ink and maybe even printers so we gullible prosumers would want to illuminate the button:lol:

The next logical step would be to introduce the "funky button" on the 5D2 which will do absolutely nothing but will have a led light around it with customizable colors via C.Fn.

I actually would be quite pleased if they made a print preview button too.
