Does the internal clock on the 30D adjust for daylight savings time? It changes tonite for the USA.

Lots of things are going to have problems as the rules this year changed but I don't believe the Canon cameras are going to one of them. The manual does not mention DST.

Doh! Thanks for reminding me to change it, it could have been months before I noticed that the time was off by an hour in my EXIF :p

Here in the States DST was modified to to remain longer in the Fall and start earlier in the Spring. This required a number of software patches for computers and other electronic equipment. AFAIK, though, cameras have always had to be manually adjusted for DST.

Oh, I see. Hope there's a good reason too. Because this way, cameras won't be able to follow DST changes unless they are equipped with GPS or earth atomic clock signal receivers.

My alarm clock didn't. :) It dutifully changed the time back one hour last weekend and didn't do a thing this weekend. No patches for cheap alarm clocks.

You don't need anything that complicated, just a setting you can turn on and off. On, it follows the DST rules and off it does not.

Great idea, but if the government keeps changing the rules, like they did this year, it's not going to work. The best solution would be to just dump daylight saving time for good. Some states don't use it and they function just fine...

My 30D updates the date and time every time I connect it to my computer with the EOS utility.

A lot of us use card readers to download our images and never connect our cameras directly to our computers.

I believe they changed that "rule" last year...
