New 200mm 2.0 and other lens questions

Will the upcoming 200mm 2.0 have any new features? When will Canon also as Nikon have telephoto lensens which compensates for 4 stops any time soon?
And by the way does Nikon´s 4 stop feature relly work? I remeber long time ago when they compared a 3 stop Nikon lens with a 2 stop Canon and there was no difference. And if I remember correctly (which is not at all something to trust) The Canon lens was slightly better.
I still miss the 200mm 1.8. I have one FD and it is fantastic. Why did they not let it come back? Focus problems? Would have been very good image wise compared to the 200mm Nikon lens.
Something else I read a long time ago that Canon licensed their USM to Nikon which just called it VR?

The latest Canon IS lenses are 4-stop.

Dunno about Canon licensing to Nikon directly - but I'd guess there are generic patent issues in there. Fundamentally, all in-lens IS/VR work on the same principles.

USM equivalent on the Nikon system is AF-S (or SWM). VR is Nikon's version of IS.

The 200mm was released in EF-mount at the very birth of EOS and continued until only a few years ago. A replacement has been announced which is going to be slightly slower in terms of lens speed, but the pluses should be a more practical/affordable lens which will probably be slightly sharper.

I have been told that the IS will be sensitive to at least 4-stops correction just like the EF 70-200/4 IS.

It's always possible. Technology marches on, look at what they did with the other supers when they went IS - all sharper.
