A few from the weekend.

1. Ken Smith zooming past at around 200kph (about 10 feet away from me at the time). Car is a "Toyota Racing Series" single seater. It's a Tatuus F3 chassis, mated to a Toyota Celica power plant. Pretty rapid machines.

2. Mark Pedersen - NZ V8s (similar but not as fast as the Aussie V8s)

3. Nathan Antunes at pace in another of the Toyota racing series cars.

4. Kayne Scott lifting a wheel through the first corner

5. Andy Knight (I think) powering through the first turn. Things got a little wet by the end of the day.

C & C welcome - I know some of you will likely disagree with sharp-angle shots. Interested to hear any feedback you may have. Thanks.

Nice stuff Cliff.

When did Puke get so many descents in it? I always remember it being pretty flat ;)

You definitely have a different style to both Chris and I, which is fantastic for what we talked about on sat night.

Good to see Kenny Smith still going around fast!
How old must he be now? Certainly been racing longer than his competitors have been alive.

He's in his mid 60's I believe. Still going strong. And yes, I think he's raced for over 4 decades now. Much longer than most of his competitors have been alive. Amazing when you think about it really.

Hi Cliff

Number one is great :) Closely followed by 4 for me.

I think they said on the news last week that this season is Kenny Smiths 50th - that is pretty damn impressive!!

Cool stuff - Slightly tigher crop on 5 to loose the two green triangle and boost the highlights perhaps for a more metalic feel?

i am sorry if you want to make any money in NZ motorsport you have to shoot the warm up laps with the cars is a large conga line at - 1/1000th of a second. oh did i mention with the lens at f22.

if you cant get that basic shot right then forget selling to NZMS and the other old boys club....

one other thing how do you manage to get the wheels blurred in photoshop and not blur the break calipers. ??

I see there was a massive shunt in the NZ V8's on the weekend, damage on the cars was pretty severe. Nice shooting #1 and #4 are my favs.

Hehe. You need to have a look at one of the Porsche images on the Motorsport.org.nz news section. It's a completely static panning shot - even the wheels are beautifully frozen. Ah, the creativity of it all. Of course all the others are those typical front 3/4 shots.

Hey, but they do seem to sell, so I shouldn't criticise.

I got told by a driver yesterday "to be honest, I don't like the angled shots, I like the plain side on shots".

Hmmmmm. Going to be a tough market to crack. Although I think my images would be more than useful for adverts/promo materials - where 'normal' images are often cropped and rotated anyway.

Thanks OSPI. I haven't seen the photos of the crash yet (they were in an NZ paper yesterday apparently - I was at the other end of the circuit when it happened), but apparently it was a biggie.

What about thoughts on image 3. I was very happy with that shot and thought it was one of the better executed shots I took all weekend. Framing is maybe a little off, could have obeyed the rule of thirds perhaps.

I was looking for a shot that could be used in a promotional advert of some sort (think an event poster or something) as these shots are not too popular with NZ Magazine publishers. Does anyone think it's a 'bad' shot?

i think the nose being clipped does not help.. but i like the idea. Its a very difficult shot to pull off as you know...
