Canadians.....where to buy lenses

I was wondering if there is a downfall to buying lenses out of the U.S.
They are so much cheaper from B&H, it makes it hard to buy them here.
One more question, can you get a US rebate if you live in canada?

There's no reason for me to buy camera equipment in Canada. I have bought almost all my gear from B&H, even when the Cdn dollar was weak it was worth the exchange due to Cdn retail prices being unjustifiably high. Now that the dollar is on par or stronger there is even less reason to buy locally. When prices come down to reflect equal pricing between Canadian and US retailers I'll start supporting the locals.

By all means, buy from the US. Great time to do so. You will only get the rebates if they are instant rebates and not mail in rebates. Right now the rebates at B&H are instant.

Broadway camera in Vancouver has been matching prices with shops in Washington. I just picked up a 70-200 f/4L IS for $1100 from them. It was about $100 more than from B&H but I got to try the lens in the shop and they have a 14 day exchange policy if you are not happy with what you buy.

They are supposed to have their online store up this week I believe.

Just received my 85/1.8 from B&H. I did get the advertised Canon USA rebate, too. My final price, after all taxes and shipping were thrown in, was $399 Canadian. Vistek lists the same lens for $539 Canadian, BEFORE taxes. I saved a grand total of $216 Canadian. Savings like that make it hard to buy locally.

I hate to admit it but B&H sold me my 85II for $300 US cheaper then dealer cost here.
Why ?

I saved over $600 by buying from B & H. I got the Canon 24-105. And this was after shipping and $160 for taxes.
Planning on buying more soon while the CAD dollar is up on the US

I've always used B&H and right now with the Canadian dollar parity USA all the way

B&H for me as well, have had no issues, and saved a ton of $. As much as I would like to buy locally the price difference is far too great...

Forgot to mention I did buy the 40d when Future Shop had it's online sale...

We call it bleating down under, as were sheep oriented.
Here in NZ a WFT-E1 is $2400 NZ.
At B+H, its $1000 US.
.75 US = 1 Kiwi buck.
Guess where I shop?
