This past was Homecoming for my alma mater Lee University in Cleveland, TN. My favorite part of this weekend is always the music festival they have on saturday night. There are a lot of music majors at this school and the music is fabulous. Each group (orchestas, ensembles, choirs, etc...) performs a song. My sister was in one of the choirs when she was in school and it was an anniversary year for them, so she was in the reunion choir. ANYWAY, I had my camera in my truck, so I brought it in. I had never used ISO 3200 before, so I set it to that. Probably didn't need that high of an ISO, but 1) I wanted to see how it would perform and, 2) I was letting my neice take some pictures and wanted to keep the shutter speed up.
I converted these fron RAW, ran Noiseware, and a little bringing up in the shadow detail. I was pretty impressed with the results.

The EOS 30D preforms very well at iso 3200. Like most cameras at high iso, its all about getting the exposure correct.

Here's an iso 3200 test shot I did a while back using the Nik Dfine 2.0 plug in, its 1200x800 so too large for the forum rules:

I think auditorium shots are very difficult indeed. Congrats on getting some good ones.

Thanks. I was kinda suprised how good they looked, noisewise. I did pay very close attention to the histograms trying get the exposure right.

I know what you mean about the "Plastic" look, but I didn't think these looked that plasticky. Here's the last image straight from RAW conversion:

impressive ... I've got to get better at the ol' high-iso settings... on my 20D, I rarely go above 800 because my photos get too noisy :(

Yes... You can plan for comparable results... Not better but really not worse than the 30D...
