The only lens I've sold is the 50/1.8 II. I sold it once I moved up to a 5D and replaced it with the 50/1.4.

I think this thread would be more valuable if people told why they sold them:

For me:

Tokina 12 - 24 - Awesome build, fast focus, kind of loud focus, hit or miss on keepers
Sigma 24 - 70 2.8 - Great build, hit or miss on AF, loud, very few keeps.
70 - 200 F4 - Awesome lens but I needed the 2.8
50 1.8 - crappy build, hunts in AF, great IQ
50 1.4 - excellent build, excellent AF, excellent IQ - Sold to fund a 85 1.8

hmmm
where to start
Really sometimes finding what best works for you is time consuming. Money consuming too.
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX APO DG MACRO HSM (sold) Did not have IS and the 70-200 2.8 IS was at too good of a price not to buy.

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM (sold) Not a big super-wide-angle shooter on my 1d Mark II, the 24-70 does very well.

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO (sold) Bought it to see if there's a huge difference from this to the Canon 24-70. There's not really, but the USM is really nice to have.

Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO (sold) Great beginner lens but as you move on, so does your gear.

Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO (sold) Great beginner lens but as you move on, so does your gear.

Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM (sold) Oh lord how I miss thee. This lens would vignette from about f4 and higher on my Mark II

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM (sold) Decided to go with a 100f2

Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 SF (sold) Eh, great lens, just didn't use it especially when I had the aperture and focal length covered with the 70-200.

Canon 400mm f/5.6L USM (sold) Not quite what I was looking for in a long lens...

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM (sold) Not quite what I was looking for in a long lens...

Sold off:

Canon 28-135 - actually gave it to someone I gave my 10D to, replaced with 24-105L
Canon 17-40 - acquired the 16-35 L II
Canon 10-22 - I HATED selling this lens, LOVED it, but also sold 30D, and couldn't use it on the 5D or 1DmkIII

Considering Selling:

Canon 85 1.8 - purchased 85L, and I don't shoot indoor sports! ;)
Canon 24-105 - With 24-70 and 70-200 2.8, I don't use the 24-105 that much, but it is sharp!! And I also like the 105 for a walk-around.
Canon 50 1.4 - Considering 50L, but with some great hesitation!!

Just out of curiosity Mike, what do you use for a long lens?

My long lens is my Sigma 120-300 2.8, sometimes coupled with a 1.4 or a 2x TC. By far the most versatile set up yet and very sharp! The 100-400 and 400 5.6 are both great lenses though! I just go from indoor sports shooting, to outdoors recreational shooting and neither the 1-4 or 400 prime does indoors well at all.

I think there need to be several updates to some people's listings here... I see some discrepancies!
