I know that the 1.2 upgrade to Lightroom is supposedly the fix to the compatibility issue with the 40D RAW (not sRAW)... but for some reason mine won't work! I am getting the "color mode" error... I've reinstalled the update just to make sure...

Any ideas before I contact Adobe tomorrow?

Can you open other RAW files? How about if you convert them to DNG, do they open then?

I've been able to open RAW files from my xti without issue. I've not tried converting them yet... I haven't installed anything other than Lightroom on this computer as it has been all I need for the time being... :(

Interesting... i downloaded Adobe DNG converter (the one that is supposed to support the 40D files as well) and it had an error parsing the files...

I guess I will be calling tomorrow.

What camera firmware do you have?

1.03 works with no problem for me other have said 1.04 causes problems with ACR.

I am sure there will be a solution soon from Adobe or Canon. You may still want to call Adobe to see if there is a workaround or ACR Beta you can get in on.

Thanks... I'll call both tomorrow and see what they say. While I can still use it in jpeg, or use DPP to convert to jpeg... I'd love to be able to go straight to lightroom... ::sigh:: soon enough, I'm sure.

Yeah, unfortunately, Canon and Adobe don't have a "working relationship" so Adobe can't work on something new from Canon until they have the product out. People get the latest, and then get thrown off because Adobe hasn't caught up.

Myself, I would would wait on "the latest" from Canon until I get the update from Adobe, but that's because Lightroom/PS are my main tools.

I'm using Lightroom 1.2 and it opens my 40d RAW files just fine. Been using it for about a month now.

Melisa,

make sure you're not using sRAW.

Dpreview has been talking about this, and someone found the issue and came up with a quick little program to fix the raw files. To me, it sounds like it is on Canon's side, and since they won't let me downgrade my firmware I will just have to shoot in jpeg or use that little program until the next upgrade.

Definitely not using sRAW. Sounds like us lucky folks with v 1.04 will have to wait until something changes! Eh well, not the end of the world though it is surely not convenient.

I'm another one caught in this trap as well now.

Use LR for most of my processing, got the 40d on Friday, did the sit down with it over the weekend and spent today using it at work for a paid shoot for a website, home today, images copied...

...Lightroom error on import "Unsupported or Damaged files" - ARGH.

Luckily I took jpg's as well but I'm so used to working with RAW's. The camera was set to RAW + L - not sRAW.

Does the stand alone DNG convertor work? If so convert to DNG and then Import into LR.
