I've heard that the f/4 version of this lens is one of the sharpest Canon lenses out there, even wide open. Is it sharper than the 2.8 non-IS? How do they compare wide open/stopped down?

Nov 05, 2007 11:05 | #7 Yes I would love to have the IS, but most of my shooting involves fast movement and action so the extra stop on the 2.8 is more suited to my work than the IS (most of the time). And at the moment, I don't have the $ to plunk down for the 2.8 IS (even with the rebate), perhaps some day in the future I will upgrade to it though.

Collin is right, all the Canon 70-200's are all fantastic lenses, and fantastically sharp. Stop worrying about it and get out and shoot! Stephen J Scharf Photography
