i have a 30d which i use CF4 / 1 which allows focus with * button.

i understand the 40D has a AF-ON button on the body to replace this, however the BG grip does'nt have a duplicate button, so how can you get around this ? what do you do in portrait format ?

is it possible to set the 40D to focus from the * button ?

Yes, it is possible to swap the functions of the * and the AF-On button. I don't use a grip with the 40D but I did the switch in order to keep it like what I'm used to.

Hi Glenn. You can download the 40D manual in PDF format.
