Looks great to me! Don't have time to look closely, but good job overall. I'm sure they'll like em!

Its a shame he isnt a bit more "smiley" she looks like she is having fun but his expression in some leaves a bit to be desired ... was he tough to work with ?

I really like 11 and the composition of the others are nice its just a shame he doesnt pull a face thats consistent with his GF's.

Regards some of your cropping it seems to be quite varied (some alsmost square some almost pano) ... if your cropping for better composition then you also need to bear in mind what format the photos are likely to be printed out in otherwise you end up with lots of shots that dont fit any standard print format without cropping again. I only mention it because we made the same mistake at our first wedding, our composition wasnt very good and we cropped a lot of shots and initially we cropped for best composition but then we had issues when we came to print them.

Yes, he was tough to work with. He mentioned that he is very self conscious about his teeth, so when he smiles, he does so with he mouth closed.

As for the cropping, how do I go about cropping to make it properly suitable for prints?

Ahh well I can appreciate that first comment because I do the same myself !

When I crop I do it all to the same print ratio that they come out of the camera at which is 3:2 (6:4 12:8 etc) unless I am doing a specific crop for a different sized print of course.

Easiest way to do this is with the image open in CS2 select the crop tool and then press the "front image" button and that will constrain your crop box to the same dimensions as your original image (so long as you havent already cropped it) If you have a shot thats landscape and you think theres a better composition in portrait in it then after selecting front image hit the 2 little arrows button to the left and that will rotate the crop box 90 degrees whilst keeping it the same constraints so you end up with the same ratio of long to short side but in the other rotation.

Hope that makes sense, for much more info theres some really good threads that you can search for that go into cropping in great detail.

Edit : Heres the link to a thread with much more detailed info on Cropping https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34567 definitely worth a read if this is something you dont fully understand.

Nice job! Like mentioned before the only gripe i would have is with the groom-to-be's expressions, but sometimes there is nothing you can do about that...

There are too many for me to comment on them individually. However, I did get the impression by looking at them all that you had the chance to take pictures of a fun couple ...It is too bad for the groom-to-be's expression, but I don't find it that bad.

Here are my nitpicks for a few :
#10 - It find it's a butt shot...not the most flattering
# 7, 9 and 17 - the skin tone of the couple seems a bit off. I think it might be a question of exposure and white balance. You might want to use off camera flash to better light up your subject.

Other than that, I think you did a good job. The couple will surely be pleased.

It looks like you had a good rapport with your subjects and that they had some fun, so that's really a positive.

Here are my thoughts, for what they are worth:

Many of the compositions have a lot of headroom - it looks like your using only the center focus point, so that when you're wide, you get the subject focused right in the middle and end up with alot of room above them, esp. on verticals. Some of these you've cropped in to a different ratio, so that tells me you're maybe framing your shots too wide and cropping in. They just look akward in places. I think if you consciously try to fill your viewfinder with the subjects, it will make a difference- especially when background isn't part of the composition. Also- it's hard to control what's behind them, but if you're gonna put them under a tree, I think it's better if the trunk isn't right behind their heads.

Lastly, you've got some fast glass, but it looks like you're not opening up that much. It's a style preference, but I think it would help some of these shots if you were at F2.8-3.2, or F4 on your long lens. It would separate them from the background better, which draws the attention to them. At 105mm @ F4, a shot like #7 would still retain the vibe of the place, but it would help remove some of the distracting background elements.

You have a good start, it's just a matter of shooting/practicing you can and trying different things.

Cheers,
Phil
