Latest firmware allows it to reset after shutdown.:cool:

Once it gets enough usage, you probably won't be able to even see there is "set" written on the button (mines completely worn off), at which time it's very difficult to see if it's moving with the wheel or not.

Good grief. The things that occupy people's minds! I had to check mine as a result and yes, the SET button moves on the 5D. It also moves on my 20D. And I've lived in blissful ignorance of this until now! What next?
