One thing that puzzles me with all the 20D rumors flying about, is that the number is larger than that of the 10D's. Historically, Canons numbers/names get smaller numerically as the cameras get more pro or prosumer oriented. Case in point; EOS 1, 1D, 1Ds, and 1D MK II are all named using the number 1. Next in line in film cameras was the A2/A2e. Now logic dictates (to me anyway), that if Canon comes out with a DSLR that fits firmly between the EOS 1D MK II and the 10D, wouldn't the name "5D", or "2D" be more in line with their naming system?
Does this make any sense?

Usually, the numbering scheme is used for the body construction and build quality of the camera. The features certainly play into it, but the '1' series cameras are built like a tank. The 20D is still basically the same body as the 10D with a boost in performance. Sort of like increasing the engine size and adding a turbocharger to the existing model.

Have Fun,

That's true. I hadn't considered the D30 to D60 transition, or the P&S cameras. So in THAT respect, WHAT system? I guess I was thinking in analog.

man, if that's the case, then the 300D is pretty damned far from the "good stuff"
