I suppose the query is pretty much explained but ill outline a little more.

ive just bought a 400d with the standard 18-55mm lens but im also looking to get the EOS 300 which is a pretty simple analog...instead of buying this analog with the standard lens too, i was wondering if i could use the lens i have with my 400D with the analog as well to save on money?

thanks for any help!!!

The film EOS 300 will only work with EF not EF-S lenses so your 18-55 would not work on it.

I have a Rebel Ti which, I believe, is also called the EOS 300V. Not bad though sometimes I really wish it had mirror-lock and a proper mid-roll change. Can't complain too much though - it does take pretty good pictures.

Anyways, the 300 can only use full-frame lenses without vignetting (i.e., showing dark corners). The 400D uses a smaller sensor than 35mm film - APS-C size - and so can use lenses that project a smaller image. Lenses that aren't compatible with the 35mm EOS 300 are Canon EF-S lenses like the kit lens (these won't physically fit the non-digital camera), Sigma DC lenses and Tamron Di-II lenses.
