I don't like the first one, nice idea..but its not quite right.
I like number 2, looks like you've caught a nice moment between the couple
get rid of the person in the background in the last one, and I'll like it then. whats the building in the background?

1. ditto gheesom..not sure it's the right photo. Know what you're trying to do though..but not executed fully
2. good moment, but would rather like to see a closeup, similar to #4. the background is so plain, I don't think 1/3rds works for this environment. But in 4, there seems to be more interesting background that may have worked for 1/3rds.
3) I like this one the best. wish the top of the shadows could've been included and they were more positioned to the left of the photograph. But still a very nice shot.
4) see 2
5) Great use of flash.

1. I'd rather see some of the hand in focus.
2. Cute moment, but they're cut off at the knees rather awkwardly; maybe a closer crop.
3. Very nice!
4. I like this one the best, I think. I'd like to see the colour version.
5. I'm assuming the building has some significance to the couple? If not ... crop tighter.

hi,

#1. the ring really popped out when i first saw the picture, but the photo still didn't do anything for me...i think it's the harsh wrinkles in the hand that erkked me a bit! perhaps there should be less crop, and like what JJacula suggested, the hand should be more in focus
#2. nice expressions you captured
#3. i like!
#4. another great picture, too bad his head is a bit chopped off
#5. good, but not wow :)

thanks for all the comments you guys! yeah, she doesnt have the best hands in the world. i thought i could blur the wrinkles out enough with my 100 f2.8 macro, but no, i had to add more blur in post! :D

my light source (the sun) and my diffuser (the clouds) werent very cooperative that day. the sun was out mostly, and well, the clouds didnt show up! LOL! it was on a sunday and the couple, being HUGE redskins fans, wanted to do the shoot before a 4:15 kick-off. :D

you know what they say, you take what they give you! :D thanks again for everyone who took the time to comment and critique! POTN ROCKS!

Hi Roddel,

I really like these except for the ring shot (too OOF). Your B&W conversions are really crisp. I like the emotions you captured...a couple who are clearly in love :)
