Auto Bracketing help

I have difficulty understanding the AEB on the XTi, how it works.

I guess it's better to have a tripod and take 1 underex. , 1 normal and 1 overex. picture and blend it, But it might be what the camera do automatically. Sounds like HDR to me, more dynamic range. Even if the goal is to have a 'perfectly exposed', with lit shadows and no blown highlight.

There are several instances where AEB can be a real help and HDR is one of them. But if your in a hurry and want to make sure you get the shot, you can set the camera to some AEB value say +-1, set for rapid fire and every shutter press will take three pics, one just right, one -1 and one +1. The hope is that of the three one will be perfect. There are other uses as well for instance, if you want to manually blend several shots to get the stuff in the shadows and not blow out the highlights three shots one over and one under is just what’s needed.

ok, i thought it would just be needed to blend.
