After MUCH deliberation, and endless great advice I've ordered a Canon 430EX flash and a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 XR DiII lens. That is the great part...

The sad part is that I'm having it shipped by Beach Camera to my father in law who is in Florida next week. He's taking the gear with him to the East Coast of Canada which means I won't see it until I go there at Christmas time with my wife :(

I was flipping back and forth between the Tamron 17-50 and the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 zooms. Prior I was thinking 24-70 but don't know how long it will be if I go full frame, if ever, and I didn't want to miss out on the lower end of the wide spectrum as a result.

Why is it so hard to wait now that I've finally ordered these accessories!?!?!

We really are all little impatient boy with our new toys... :) We don't want to wait till Christmas to play with the new toys that we know will be there to play with for a long time before the actual moment we can :).

Regardless, congrats with your new acquisitions!

Kind regards, Wim ;)

Because digital photographers like immediate gratification. That is why so many of us chimp. :D

Seriously, I always get so excited I can't wait for my new gear to show up.

Ed - I usually await your always interesting comments - was this photo taken with the lens I've purchased by chance?

If he goes back to Canada, and you are within Canada, why don't you just have him ship the stuff to you when he gets home? It can't be very expensive.

Why does he have to sit on it for 2 months?

In reality, by the time he gets home it is about 4-5 weeks I'd have to wait. The lens is actually a Christmas present from the wife, so I wouldn't want to open it ahead of time :) I don't mind waiting a month, but it would be GREAT to have it now!

If you read closely enough, it says a gift FROM the wife :)
