LowriderS10 - is your car posted here? Mini trucks are my forbidden fruit - I'm 6'7" and don't fit any of them, but would kill for a bagged mini. Maybe a future project..

I ditched my fullsize Chevy 4x4 for the next best thing to a mini truck that I can fit in (at the time) - a Scion xB.

I know, poor substitute, but love cruising low and slow, if only I could afford to be bagged!

Not a poor substitute at all, I love xBs! Got any pics of it? :)

Mine wasn't bagged either, but it had a static 5" front/8" rear drop plus 2" f/r with wheels and tires. Tons of stuff done to it (fully rebuilt engine with high compression hyper pistons, custom ground cam, etc, etc, custom interior, big stereo, all sorts of stuff...it was a fun toy)

I'm not too sure if it's been posted here...I sold it back in '09 after 9 years of owning it...started out as a beat-up landscaping truck...it looked like this when I sold it (I apologize in advance, I suck at taking vehicle pics...plus, these were taken 4 years ago with a G7) :

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/THE%20TWUCKIE/IMG_0054.jpg

Then...a month later, I was looking at the local auto parts classifieds and found this:

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/THE%20TWUCKIE/poors102.jpg

Kind of sucks...so much effort went into the smallest details on that truck...took me years to track down the PERFECT taillights...I spent hours changing small things over (stuff like the factory black doorhandles/lock tumblers to chrome ones), etc, etc...after a big breakup, I remember I used to go home every Friday at 6, wash and hand wax it 'till it shone like a new penny and then go cruising with my friends...lots of great memories...then this 16 yr old kid bought it, raced the crap out of it and did burnouts for a couple of weeks, blew the engine and wrecked/parted out the rest!

I'm into wagons now (the current ride in Canada is a lowered '93 Escort wagon...likely getting a Mazda P5 when I get back)...but I wouldn't mind a bagged mini as a toy in a couple of years...

Man, I haven't looked at these pictures in a long, long time...the day I sold the lowrider with my ultra-ultra rare 1990 VW Jetta GTX (aka GLI in the States)...gives you an idea of how low the truck was haha...the VW's actually sitting lower than a normal Jetta.

The GTX had a factory DOHC 16v 2.0L, close-ratio 5 speed, BBS wheels, full Recaro interior, functional brake ducts, 4 wheel discs, factory lowered/performance Bilstein suspension, etc, etc...what made mine one of a handful was that it left the factory with the "small" bumpers and the big (2.0 vs. 1.8) engine...they switched bumper design halfway through 1990 (most people prefer the early bumpers), a couple of months after they moved to a bigger engine (most people prefer the late engine)...with only about 5,000 GTXs made each year, only a few survive that were made in that short window with the small bumpers/big engine. Mine also happened to be an imported one from Germany!

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/THE%20TWUCKIE/DSC00389.jpg

It was mostly stock (still a TON of fun to drive!!) with aftermarket taillights (BMW M3 look) and a Techtonics Tuning performance chip.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/GTX/IMG_0897.jpg

And the day I picked it up... (In bad need of a good waxing!)

I'm glad I asked, then! Great looking S10, and I'm diggin' that VW. Nothing like finding a picture of an old, cherished car.

My first xB was a money pit, bought it new and had $5k spent in the first month on suspension, alarm, stereo.. I had exhaust in a UPS box a solid week before I even test drove for the first time. Ended up driving it for about 2 years and got tired of it so I sold it to a local dealer who sold it as it sat. Saw it a few years ago around town and it was unchanged in appearance though I have no way to know if the subs and amp were still there or if someone at the dealership helped themselves to it. Was in a car club, which is never good for wallets.

I'll snap a picture of my current tomorrow and post it, it's nothing special but I can't drive a stock height xB and not hate it. Also my situation doesn't allow me to be on coilovers anymore, too many steep driveways I need to get into now.

DF210s and full Yakima setup on top (Load Warrior basket and bike carrier) to haul my other toys and camping gear outside so I have room for friends and my dog on the inside for long trips. A work in progress, anyway, and I'm going for cheap and DIY this time around instead of blowing thousands on shop bills and JDM parts..

Would love to see your wagon if you have pics of it! Truth be told, I would love a slammed wagon or VW van. If I was a foot shorter and $10k richer, ha! I've got too many hobbies..

Thanks, really appreciate the comments on the truck! To be honest, it was TOO much of a hobby. It got to the point where all I was thinking about was the truck...wheel offsets, cam profiles, tracking down interior trim pieces (I converted over from the ugly S10 burgundy to the factory charcoal Blazer interior with a 2nd gen tweed bench with custom rails), etc, etc...it was never-ending. Seeing it go was sad, but a relief at the same time as well!

Were your xBs the boxy kind or the new ones? I looooove the toaster body style! Your first one sounds awesome, by the way...so does your new one, looking forward to the pics! Sounds like you're getting a lot of use out of it! :) And yeah, my tall friends always make fun of me for being "short" (I'm 5'10), but always complain about cool cars they can't fit in! One advantage of being completely average height is everything is designed for me haha...still, I wouldn't mind being 6' even. ;)

The current wagon isn't too special, but I like it...I picked it up for $500 and put on about 40,000 km so far without any real issues...it's a trusty camping/roadtrip rig...slow as hell, but handles really well (they're built on the Mazda MX-3 / Precidia chassis).

Mods: Aftermarket front and rear strut bars, Mazda MX-3 lower rear tie bar, Escort GT sway bars, 1.8" Canuck Motorsports lowering springs, some aftermarket struts, can't remember the brand now, nothing fancy...some MX-3 interior goodies, decent stereo (Infinity components, Alpine V12 amp, MTX Thunder DVC 12" sub, decent Pioneer HU), in this picture VW wheels (it's had a bunch of sets on it...I scored a set of minty mint Fittipaldi 15s for 75 bucks that were on it 'till someone offered me a ton of cash for them haha...), minor engine stuff, plugs, wires, DIY air intake mod...

IMAGE: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4038/5165626919_255598e756_b.jpg

With the Fittipaldis (before being lowered):

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/Stuff%20For%20Sale/DSC04931.jpg

I found my old GMC Jimmy...(Escort before lowering here too):

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/LowriderS10/Smurfwagen/DSC04978.jpg

This was taken at my ex's house before lowering...Fun fact: I looked outside one day and saw a BMW with what looked like the rims off my S10...I went across the street to talk to the guy, turns out they were my old wheels...the only thing that has survived off that truck :/

That last pic is awesome! Reginald, eh? I dig it.

Both xBs I've had were 1st gen - 2004-2007. The OG xB! I'm not a fan of the 2nd gen bodies.. the bB (JDM) 1st gens are, to me, sexy. Sure enough, it's a goofy looking car but it's so damn practical it sucks you in, then you start falling in love with the whole design. So, I've been smitten since 2006 - the only thing I love more than slammed mini trucks with some tuck is a cambered out xB.

I always think about having another car, faster, better looking, what have you. But it always goes back to tons of room inside the cabin, cargo basket on roof to make more people or dog space inside, and 30+ MPG. Even at $4.13 a gallon, I can drive until the fuel light comes on and fill up for under $35. 250-300 miles later, I can do it again - something about the xB makes it hard to argue with.

I went to rotate my tires to drive 250+ miles round trip to a huge local car show this weekend and noticed that the rears were bald and the cords were showing. Whoops. Luckily a buddy is letting me use his spare set of wheels to drive around on this weekend. A quick snapshot while I was at the gas station.

Haha thanks...I wanted to give it a really pretentious name...and then Reggie Mantle (from the Archies comics) popped into my head...and so it was settled. :D

I completely agree with you! The fist gen xBs are awesome!!! They have so much personality...and yeah, they're very practical and they're "sensible" without looking boring! I've loved them since the day they came out (though in Canada they were never really officially sold...they were sold through some sort of a back-door scheme whereupon we got slightly used US models or something...this, sadly, makes them rare, which makes them expensive)...still, they're definitely on my list of cars to consider when I get home...really looking forward to seeing what yours looks like!

By the way...have you ever seen an xB truck? There's one kicking around in my city here in Korea...I should have a crappy cellphone pic of it somewhere, I'll try to dig it up for you!

I've seen none domestically but I'm pretty sure the bB (JDM) is available as a truck. When I was hooked into the Scion scene I saw some build-ups online from people who had them imported from Japan to the US but never followed any of them to completion.

I'd love that body style in the US. Put a pic up if you have it, they're awesome. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow, probably a crappy shot sitting in the driveway, but a picture nonetheless.

That is CLEAN. Is that original paint? I haven't seen more than a handful of those in my area that don't have oxidized clear coats. Great work keeping it in shape.

Sweet, no worries, my shots suck bigtime too haha...here's the Scion truck running around town here...my apologies for the horrible pictures, they're just snapshots with my crappy 1.3 MP Samsung flippy-floppy phone:

Beautiful car! JDM front bumper? One of my best friends has a modified 300ZX TT droptop...thing hauls ass and looks awesome doing it! I love the interior of yours, absolutely minty!

One little thing...try to watch the background when you're taking pics of your car...the garbage can, poles, etc growing out of the car are a little distracting.

Yes, that is all original paint. In that picture the car hasn't been waxed since last October, so it doesnt look as good as it usually does. The black on these cars usually fade pretty badly, but the owner before me took just enough care of it to keep it somewhat clean. I really put in a lot of time bringing it back to life and making it shine that much.

Here are a few more photos of it with it's usual wheels.
