Aug 30, 2020 06:43 | #9040 Nine days and 2,000 miles in the Upper Peninsula. Didn't take many photos (didn't bring the right gear!). Was only supposed to be a 3 night test run of my new toy (the thing on the roof), but I stretched it out a bit.   I got a little spooked one night hearing some noise in the dark forest (Ottawa National Forest) after finding what I think was bear scat and some scratched up trees around my campsite earlier in the day. They're only black bears, but I still don't want to run into one. I didn't intend to head that far north this particular trip, so I didn't bring any firearms. I even made it up to High Rock Bay finally. That's been high on my list for quite a while now.  -Dane

Yeah, I don't know that much about bears. I am planning on heading further west after I get things sorted, so I will probably just toss a rifle in there before I go to help sleep easier. There are bears, moose, bison, mountain lions, wolves and people. I'm a solo traveler with a tendency to overdo things, haha. -Dane

Weather has always been a passion of mine and I've spent many years as a Storm Tracker and media photographer. Auto Racing is also one of my great interests along with Amateur Radio and Firearms.
