I put a lot of those CX500 Customs together. I worked for a Honda dealer and traded in my 1969 CB750 Sandcast (for $900.00 with 30,000 miles on it, for a 1978 CX500. I didn't miss the 750 until decades later and saw what they were bringing at some auctions. That being said, I did not miss the 750 after riding the CX. It was a good machine until they started having trouble with head gaskets and cam chain tensioners. The CX and GL 650s were excellent though and a definite improvement, so if you can find one of those, go for it. You can go to CX500forumdotcom for expert advice on getting one road worthy again.
